  • Provide employee safety & health training for clients to prevent accidents, reduce downtime and improve bottom line.
  • Conduct site safety inspections for general contractors, construction subcontractors and all crafts, including:
    site excavation, utilities, masonry, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, framing, carpentry, and roofing contractors.
  • Develop and produce customized employee safety & health manuals for clients
  • Investigate accidents
  • Respond to OSHA citations for clients, negotiate with regulators on their behalf to reduce fines, increase safety

2003-2006

  • Safety Consultant to 300 medium-size construction and commercial general industry and sub-contractors.
    – Inspected sites for safety issues.
    – Investigated significant claims
    – Conducted safety training.

2001-2002

  • Site Safety Officer for General Contractor Site Under EM-385
    D.O.D. Pentagon Heating & Refrigeration Plant, Arlington, VA.
  • – Advised general contractor on safety for site utilities work through final construction on 530-foot Micro-Tunnel and Pipe Jacking of 84-inch Hobas pipe under WAMATA Metro Line.
    – Conducted employee and subcontractor site orientation including Coordinated DOD security clearances, monitored subcontractor safety, conducted and trained toxic gas monitoring for confined spaces.
    – Developed comprehensive Site Emergency Medical and Rescue Plan with Arlington County Technical Rescue. Project had no OSHA reportable injuries.

2000-2001

  • Safety Officer for General Contractor at Fairfax County Water Authority Rock Tunnel Project, Occoquan, VA, Occoquan, VA.
    Advised general contractor on safety during:
    – Surface and 700-foot rock tunnel blasted under the Occoquan River;
    – Excavations for 84-inch concrete pipe;
    – Site civil and foundation concrete work;
    – Conducted new employee orientations
    – Approved certificates of insurance
    – Monitored site security.
  • Trained sub-contractor employees and client staff in:
    – OSHA CFR291926.800 Tunnel Regulations
    – Personal protective equipment
    – Multi-gas monitoring
    – Ecape breathers
    – Noise measurements.
